Hi, I’m Jennifer

Married to Joe for 15 years and dog mom to Bradley Cooper

I have been a resident of Elmhurst for over 25 years, an Elmhurst small business owner for 17 years, and spend my free time volunteering in the community. My connection to the Elmhurst community runs deep. My grandfather built homes in Elmhurst in the 1950s and 60s, and I spent Friday nights at the York football field cheering on my brother.

Further, I am proud to live in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Elmhurst, Pick subdivision, with my husband, Joe, and our adopted golden retriever, Bradley Cooper. I deeply understand our community and have worked to make positive change in our community for over a decade.

As a resident, business owner and elected official, I have always led with integrity. My sincere commitment and dedication to our community are why I ran for alderman and why I am running for re-election in the April 4, 2023 municipal election. 

I have a proven record of dedication and have contributed to the vibrancy of Elmhurst through many causes and civic responsibilities, including a few more recent: 

As your alderman, I have diligently worked to uphold my campaign platform and enhance the quality of life in our great city.

Some notable aldermanic achievements include:

  • Twice voted against any City property tax increase

  • Saved taxpayers $2 million by securing federal funds for new Enterprise Resource Planning system

  • Created new traffic and safety standards (unanimously approved by City Council)

  • Advocated for the city’s first neighborhood-wide traffic study – currently underway in College View (Ward 1).

  • Initiated new construction site standards to minimize the impact of development on neighboring residents and businesses. (unanimously approved by City Council)

  • Developing Senior Citizens citywide discount and safety program.

  • Initiated improvements to increase the visibility of the traffic light at Arthur and York (near two schools). Work will take place in 2023.

  • Requested enhanced lighting of the crosswalk in front of the YMCA. Reflective stripping will take place in the spring.

  • Advocated for the completion of the College View stormwater project and Third Street storm sewer improvement.

I will continue to lead with integrity, listen to the concerns of Ward 1 residents, conduct thorough due diligence on the most vital issues of our Ward and Elmhurst, and make the best informed decisions asked of our City Council in order to keep Elmhurst vibrant and moving forward.

  • DONE! Led a resident group seeking a neighborhood park in an underserved area (the closest park is across IL state highway, Route 83). Established an Intergovernmental Agreement

  • Elmhurst University Homecoming. Dedicated to our community

  • Spring Road Pet Parade Committee member and animal advocate

  • Active in various rescue groups and foster dogs for two incredible organizations.

  • Initiated the creation of a public art mural program to attract visitors, enhance business districts, and create unique experiences.

  • Initiated improvements to the Veterans Commission to increase participation and engage local providers of Veterans services. (unanimously approved by City Council)

  • Supported local Ukrainian residents and community outreach efforts.

  • Turkey Trot tradition

  • Established strong working relationships with city staff and my colleagues to get things done on behalf of Ward 1 residents.

  • Organized a Salt Creek/Prairie Path cleanup with Villa Park Trustees.

  • Elmhurst Memorial Day Ceremony participant. Dedicated to our community

  • Supported economic development efforts that attracted 60 new businesses in 2022 contribute to vibrant economic districts.

  • As an alderman, Jennifer have listened to your concerns and helped find practical solutions. She will continue to be an accessible and effectively bring your voice to City Hall.

  • Voted for a 0% Tax increase.

  • Main Street business owner for 17 years.

  • Saved taxpayers $2 million by securing federal funds for new enterprise resource planning software

  • Actively working on Senior Citizens initiatives, including a savings program and streamlined safety planning.

  • Advocated for a new City website and will continue to work to ensure its successful implementation.

  • Established community goals and priorities by updating the Strategic Plan

  • Promoted and attended Neighborhood Roll Calls throughout the ward with the Police Department.

  • Created the first-ever Ward 1 News YouTube Channel (created in 2020 to safely engage residents).

  • * Updated Spearheaded Keep Elmhurst Vibrant Group Organized over 200 neighbors and community support to successfully oppose a gas station development along Salt Creek Trail. We believed a gas station at the corner would threaten our environment, traffic, and public safety and negatively impact our community. The group's work earned the 2019 Citizen Initiative Award from the Citizen Advocacy Center. * The site is in plan review to house an eye doctor.

  • Completed York High School storm water project and Third Street Storm Sewer Improvement

  • Spearheaded a Long-Term Downtown Design and Urban Planning Initiative, taking a fresh look at downtown planning and to incorporate/maximize outdoor dining

  • Volunteer with USO of Illinois & American Legion

  • Advocated for enhanced code enforcement standards. (the house pictured was left in disarray by the management company for years)
