MAKING OUR NEIGHBORHOODS SAFE
Initiated changes that improved the city’s response to traffic safety.
Advocated for the city’s first neighborhood-wide traffic study – currently underway in College View (1st Ward).
Improved dilapidated sidewalk improvements including ADA compliance along St. Charles Rd.
Requested enhanced lighting of the crosswalk in front of the YMCA.
Ensured our police and fire departments have the needed resources to keep our families and neighborhoods safe.
Initiated improvements to increase the visibility of the traffic light at Arthur and York (near two schools). Work will take place in 2023.
Advocated for the completion of the College View stormwater project and Third Street storm sewer improvement.
ENHANCING QUALITY OF LIFE

Advocating for increased accessible parking spaces on Addison Street.
Developing Senior Citizens initiatives, including a savings program and streamlined safety planning.
Advocated for enhanced code enforcement standards.
Improved construction site standards; minimizing the impact of development on residents and businesses.
Initiated efforts to keep downtown Elmhurst vibrant and safe.
Created a public art mural program to attract visitors, beautify the city and enhance business districts.
Revised Veterans Commission to increase volunteerism and to encourage support from local providers of Veterans services.
PROACTIVE COMMUNICATION & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Organized neighborhood meetings to discuss zoning and safety concerns.
Promoted and attended Neighborhood Roll Calls throughout the ward with the Police Department.
Hosted the annual Ward 1 town hall meetings.
Promoted the Elmhurst Connect App, which allows residents to easily request city services and receive service request updates.
Advocated for a new more accessible and user-friendly City website
Utilize email and social media to distribute important updates to residents, such as economic development news, neighborhood roll calls, and community safety notifications.
Expanded and manage the Ward 1 social media pages
Created the first-ever Ward 1 News YouTube Channel (created in 2020 to safely engage residents).
Established community goals and priorities by updating the Strategic Plan advocated to include community stakeholders and residents in the process. Together, we collaborated to establish and prioritize goals.
Jennifer has proven to be effective as an elected official and at the grassroots level.
